The spatial installation attempts to bridge the gap between a personal relationship to a climate-damaging raw material as heating material and a societal problem. The majority of German households heat with fossil fuels, primarily natural gas and heating oil. Less than 0.5% of households heat with coal. The black-brown, greasy-looking mass of coal in the installation, which, however, would only be sufficient for one person for two to three winters in the tiled stove depending on the outside temperature, clearly illustrates both the personal impact of heating and the dark side of the economic progress of recent decades.

coal conversation pit creates a space for reflection and exchange. The installation can be used as a (color-staining) seating option and becomes a symbol of the convenience of lignite mining and the dirt it brings with it.
